Madhya Pradesh Governor Lalji Tandon died at a hospital in Lucknow early Tuesday morning. He was 85.

His last rites will be performed later in the day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the Tandon's demise, saying he will be remembered for his untiring efforts to serve the society.

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief extended her condolences to the bereaved family.
