A group of pro-Khalistan supporters were caught on camera vandalising the Indian consulate in San Francisco on Sunday, apparently in protest against the ongoing efforts by Punjab police to apprehend self-proclaimed Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh.

A video of the attack on the office of the consulate-general shows two flags used by the Khalistani supporters tied to a railing on the premises.

The consulate staff can be seen removing and handing them over to the protesters following which they go inside through a side door and shut it.

After this, the protesters attack the premises, pulling down barricades and breaking window panes.

There was no official word on the attack either from the consulate-general in San Francisco or the Indian embassy in Washington D.C.

In Delhi, foreign secretary Vinay Mohan Kwatra sidestepped a question on the video footage showing the attack in San Francisco but elaborated on the action taken by India on Sunday night in the case of the Tricolour being pulled down from the Indian High Commission in London by Khalistani activists.

In a related development, the Victoria police in Australia on Monday released photographs of six men who they said were caught on camera indulging in violence during the Khalistan referendum held in Melbourne at the end of January.

The police have sought public help in identifying the six men.
