Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, who had earlier heard the matter with Justices A.M. Khanwilkar and D.Y. Chandrachud, on Thursday referred the matter for further hearing before “an appropriate bench”.

Justice Misra is slated to demit office on October 2. Judgments in several key cases, including those dealing with the Aadhaar card validity and the Sabarimala temple, are now being written by the Chief Justice.
