A fourth-year Indian computer engineering student was found dead in his Sharjah apartment, The Gulf News quoted the local police, as saying. It is being suspected as a case of suicide, they said.

Jyot was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his home at Al Rolla area of Sharjah on November 2, the media report said.

The 21-year-old’s brother Niral, speaking to the newspaper, said that the family had no idea that he was considering such a drastic step.

Jyot was alone at home at the time of the purported suicide.

Officials, who wished to remain anonymous, said that forensic teams have suspected no foul play.

“My parents had gone to Al Ain. We do not know what was going on in his mind. It was very unexpected. He had not left behind any note and we have not come across anything later. We are trying our best to figure out what was going on in his mind and what was troubling him," Niral told the Gulf News.

The matter has been moved to Public Prosecution.

However, investigators are yet to find the reason for ‘Jyot committing suicide’, and are not convinced about the angle.

We checked with the college. They said he was doing wonderfully in his studies and everything was going fine. He was a favourite among the faculty and they said he was good in his studies, one of Jyot's friends told The Gulf News.
