Chandigarh: Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the CBI to submit on Tuesday a status report and a detailed report of its day-to-day investigation so far of the Pradyuman Thakur murder case.
The anticipatory bail plea by Ryan Pinto, the chief executive of the Ryan International Group of Institutions, and his parents Augustine Pinto, the founding chairperson, and Grace Pinto, the managing director, came up for hearing on Friday.
Opposing the bail plea, the CBI counsel argued that the probe was at an advanced stage and a role of the school authorities in the murder could not be ruled out as of now.
The Pintos' counsel argued that the CBI had arrested a Class XI student of Ryan International School for the murder of Class II pupil Pradyuman, 7, and that his clients were not involved in the crime.
The case came up before the single-judge bench of Justice Surinder Gupta after Pradyuman's father Varun Thakur informed the high court that the Supreme Court had on November 6 set a 10-day deadline to dispose of the matter.
The Pintos filed the anticipatory bail plea on September 19. The high court granted a stay on their arrest on September 28.
Varun has filed a petition with the Juvenile Justice Board seeking the trial of the 16-year-old accused as an adult, saying the crime he committed was "chilling, horrific, monstrous and serious in nature".
