Silchar, Aug. 30 :    Silchar, Aug. 30:  Former Assam minister and Congress stalwart Lutfur Rahman Majharbhuyan died last night at his Masimpur Road residence here following a prolonged illness. He was 85 and left behind a son and six daughters. A doctor by profession he was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly in 1972 for the first time. He was a Cabinet minister holding forest, tourism, health and PWD portfolios in two consecutive Assemblies. Majharbhuyan was also an accomplished short-distance sprinter during his youth.
