New Delhi, Jan. 15: Senior BJP leader L.K. Advani today lamented the loss of Sindh and its capital Karachi to Pakistan, saying India appeared "incomplete" without the province.
"At times I feel sad that Karachi and Sindh are not parts of India any more," the 89-year-old, who was born in a Sindhi family in Karachi, told an event organised by Prajpita Brahma Kumaris Ishwariya Vishwa Vidyalaya, a non-government spiritual education centre. "I was very active in the RSS during my childhood days in Sindh. It's a matter of dismay. I believe India appears incomplete without Sindh," Advani said in his brief address.
Advani, now virtually marginalised in the party, praised the Prajpita Brahma Kumaris for placing women in high positions and said the RSS, the BJP's parent organisation, should include more women in its ranks.
Party leaders refused to comment on Advani's yearning for his birthplace but informally said the veteran may have been driven by his marginalisation under the current dispensation. Advani is hardly allowed to speak at party forums these days.
Advani lit the lamp to inaugurate the recently concluded national executive meeting of the party. He was seated on the dais for two days along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP chief Amit Shah and other senior leaders without getting an opportunity to speak.
