Mumbai, Feb. 2 (PTI): Tahir Hussain, Hindi film producer and father of actor Aamir Khan, passed away this morning after a cardiac arrest, family sources said.

“He had a massive heart attack. Aamir and (wife) Kiran, who are in Los Angeles, are flying back. The funeral is likely to be tomorrow evening,” sources said.

Some of the films Tahir Hussain produced were Hum Hai Rahi Pyar Ke, (1993), Zakhmi (1975), Anamika (1973) and Caravan (1973).

He had also directed Aamir in his directorial debut Tum Mere Ho in 1990.

Tahir Hussain also acted in Janam Janam Ka Saath (1977), Pyar Ka Mausam (1969) and Jab Pyar Kisise Hota Hai (1961). The filmmaker is survived by his wife and sons, Aamir and Faisal, and two daughters Farhat and Nikhat.

Aamir, who was in the US to attend the Sundance film festival where his movie Peepli Live was premiered, is expected to arrive by tomorrow.
