The government asserted that a high-level inquiry has been initiated into the Lok Sabha security breach incident and asked the opposition not to politicise the issue. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi noted that Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla promptly held a meeting with floor leaders following the incident and listened to the suggestions for further strengthening Parliament security.

Fourteen Opposition MPs from different parties were suspended from the Lok Sabha for the remaining period of Winter Session for disrupting House proceedings. Before their suspension, the MPs moved into the Well of the House raising slogans with demand of a statement from the government on the security breach.

TMC member Derek O'Brien was suspended from the Rajya Sabha for the remaining part of the Winter Session for his 'unruly behaviour' and 'misconduct' in the House. Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar had earlier named O'Brien in the morning for his "unruly behaviour' and had asked him to leave the House. But he remained inside the House.

Wholesale price-based inflation rose to an eight-month high of 0.26 per cent in November, driven by a sharp jump in food prices, especially onion and vegetables. The last positive WPI inflation was recorded in March at 1.41 per cent.

The House authorized the impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, with every Republican rallying behind the politically charged process despite lingering concerns among some in the party that the investigation has yet to produce evidence of misconduct by the president. Authorizing the monthslong inquiry ensures that the impeachment investigation extends well into 2024, when Biden will be running for reelection and seems likely to be squaring off against former President Donald Trump — who was twice impeached during his time in the White House.

The live-in partner of a 20-year-old woman was arrested in Indore for allegedly stabbing her to death for refusing to have physical relations with him, police said. The accused, Praveen Singh Dhakad (24), originally a resident of Guna district, got furious when the victim refused to have physical relations with him and stabbed her in the neck with a pair of scissors, he said.
