It was all about women, their passions, their achievements, their contributions and more. What better way to celebrate the 175th year of Loreto in South Asia than organise a women-centric quiz? The She Quiz, in association with SHE (Self Help Enterprise), saw 25 teams from schools, colleges and alumni associations fighting it out. The quiz was conducted by Mahaquizzer and businesswoman Jayashree Mohanka with special rounds by a host of celebrities. So there was Lovey of Kookie Jar on all things, you guessed it right, food, Shamlu Dudeja, the founder of SHE, on kantha art, writer Anjum Katyal asking about music and more, danseuse Priti Patel placing posers about various dance forms. Eight teams made it to the finals — old boys of Birla High School, IIT Kharagpur, St. James’ School, Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), South City College alumni, Nava Nalanda alumni, South Point High School alumni and Jadavpur University alumni. The old boys of Birla High School finished first, followed by JU and the South City College alumni.

The old boys of Birla High School had a blast at the quiz. They struck the right balance between fun and funda, cracking most of the questions and being crowned winners. “It was a different quiz. Rarely do we have a quiz on women and the city also doesn’t have that many women quizzers. This one was very innovative and I loved the round where Lovey came with her yummy Kookie Jar goodies and made us answer some food-related, women-centric questions,” said (far right) Siddhant Agarwal, a PhD student from Northwestern University, Chicago. With him in the team were (far left) Kishalay Banerjee and Kinshuk Biswas.

The two-member team of former students of South City College finished third. “It was a lovely quiz. I liked how Jayashreedi conducted the quiz. It was very interactive and the rounds conducted by the celebrity quizmasters were quite interesting. This is the first time I participated in a women-centric quiz and honestly we don’t generally get a lot of women-related questions in the quizzes we participate in. This was a welcome change,” said (right) Ruru Chowdhury, a sports management professional, with Subikash Paul.

For Debanjan Bose, a former student of JU and now at Reuters, this quiz was one of a kind. “It is not often that we see such quizzes where you go back learning more than you have answered. This was one such quiz,” said Debanjan (far right) who along with his team members (far left) Reesoom Pal and Arindam Dutta finished second.
