MTV has drawn up a fresh roster. Over the next few weeks it is set to unveil a whole lot of programmes as many of the old favourite shows wind up. Ashish Patil, general manager MTV India and senior vice-president, creative and content, gives t2 a lowdown on what’s new on the youth channel.

Force India The Fast and The Gorgeous

When: Sunday, 7pm. The show is on air since May 17.

What: It’s a hunt for four of the hottest, stylish and fastest girls, to travel with the Force India team and cheer them on in every F1 race. “They would be in league with supermodels like Claudia Schiffer, Cindy Crawford and Naomi Campbell,” the MTV India boss says.

Host: Rannvijay Singh

Rules of the game: The show is structured on F1 races. The top qualifier among the 20 contestants gets pole position. Each episode is themed on an F1 host country. For instance, an episode on Italy will highlight pizza and fashion. So there could be a round where the contenders have to walk on the ramp, rush in to change into a sari with accessories and come back on the ramp.

The Brazil episode would have rounds involving salsa and carnival outfits. Similarly there would be beer runs if the country is Germany, pizza fights if Italy or sushi war if Japan.

In case one is curious about the link of velocity with violence, this is what happens in a pizza fight. One is blindfolded while others throw pizza at her. Whoever hits her smack on the face fetches the maximum points for her team.

Prizes: “Kickass gratification,” promises Patil and lines up the following — travelling with the team to all 17 countries on the F1 circuit, being shot by celebrity lensman Atul Kasbekar and getting to feature in the Force India calendar. Finally, the winner gets a role in a Percept Picture Company movie.

Pulsar MTV Stunt Mania

When: The auditions just wrapped in six cities. The show would roll in July.

What: Stunt lovers who are passionate about bikes would try out near-impossibilities, from going though a running train in a bike and jumping over a 300ft building under supervision of Bollywood’s top stunt choreographer Allan Amin (of Dhoom and Race fame). “But safety will be the core. We will talk about how to maintain a bike, the necessity of wearing a helmet, or precautions during rain. After all, beyond a point, speed is stupid,” says Patil.

Eye popper: Girls, including an actress from Marathi films, feature in the macho show. “We had taken in some girls hoping to find a few who could ride a bike in a straight line. We were stunned to find them doing wheelies, stoppies, tank stands and burn outs,” Patil adds.

Host: Deepika Gujral.

Prize: A personalised Pulsar, built to the owner’s tastes, a chance to feature in a Pulsar TV commercial and Rs 5 lakh in cash.

Teen Diva 2

When: From June 19, 7pm

What: The second season of the Indian franchise of Miss Teen Diva is back. This fashion fiesta is open to contestants in the age group of 13-19. The qualities under the scanner are IQ, wit, style and charm. Associated with the show are names like Sandip Soparrkar, Yukta Mookhey, Anusha Dandekar and Deepti Gujral. “It’s a very Barbie doll, very bubble gum show,” says Patil.

Eye popper: There would be an MTVstyle twist to each round. If it is one’s style quotient being judged, the photoshoot might happen under trying circumstances, with a lobster crawling up the teen model’s legs. For poise, one might be asked to do a catwalk on stilettos on a zigzag ramp.

Prize: The winner gets to represent India at the Miss Teen International pageant held in Chicago.
