Wamiqa Gabbi closely observed how Rekha and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan had lip-synced to Bollywood numbers to prepare for the jazz-flavoured Babuji Bhole Bhale song in Vikramaditya Motwane’s Prime Video series Jubilee, the actress said in a recent interview.

“Playing a character from a period drama is extremely tricky. The dance sequences are different since they used to have very subtle movements and heavy eye and facial expressions. To get those right, I have followed actresses like Rekhaji, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and watched songs by legendary actresses over and over again to prepare for the peppy jazzy number Babuji Bhole Bhale,” she explained.

Playing yesteryear actress Niloufer Qureshi, Wamiqa has grabbed eyeballs for her performance in the period drama based on the Hindi film industry during the 1940s and 1950s. The series, which started streaming on Prime Video from April 7, traces how Niloufer becomes an established star from aspiring actress.

Apart from Wamiqa, the series stars Aparshakti Khurana, Aditi Rao Hydari, Prosenjit Chatterjee, Sidhant Gupta, Nandish Sandhu and Ram Kapoor in key roles.
