WHAT SRK MEANS TO ME...

Every November 2, at the stroke of midnight, I write about everything that you make me feel through the year... and beyond. This year it’s no different. Only this time, it’s not just a Facebook post. I am really hoping someone will be able to take this t2 and show it to you so that you come to know of this crazy person who is head over heels in love with you. After all, fan hoon main aapki.

Happy Birthday, dear King Khan. You have been my inspiration for so many years that I have lost track of when I became such a huge SRK lover. Your wit and humour are just an added bonus to the entire package that is Brand SRK. From watching your films on the first day to going crazy seeing you at Eden Gardens to waiting outside ITC Sonar for a single glimpse, I’ve done it all.

On your special day, I’d just like to take the opportunity to thank you for what you have been to me for the last 16 years of my life. I was introduced to films with DDLJ and there has been no looking back since. Every time I was sad and lonely, it was you who said “main hoon na”.

Actors may come and go, but there can be only one King and that is you, Sir.

Best wishes for all your upcoming endeavours and may you excel in whatever you do
From a 19-year-old who is in love with you...

Sulogna Ghosh, St Xavier’s College

And today, hundreds of people have gathered in front of Mannat to wish him. From Deewana to Dilwale, Chamatkar to Chak De! I stand beside his every success and every failure... though he sits there unaware of my existence. Happy birthday to my man!

Souradeep Mitra, Halisahar

I wish you all the very best with long life, success and prosperity. Since the days of Circus you managed to catch the attention of viewers. You became a sensation in Bollywood. No one can forget your sublime act in films like Baazigar, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.... Your chemistry with Kajol is just mesmerising. Keep working, SRK. You have become the brand ambassador of our state and we look forward to many good films from you in the days to come. Stay blessed.

Indranil Sanyal, Dhakuria

Writing something for you that has not been written is as tough as putting back toothpaste in its tube! @51 the only thing I can wish for you is immortality. Age has been only a ticking number for you...you have aged better than wine. I heard the loudest cheers when you came in for only a couple of minutes in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil. For most of us sitting there, that was the moment. Though Ranbir tried his best to romance the women, your one dialogue was enough to prove your eternal class. I wish and hope that you do films that let your acting talent stretch its wings. Wish you a very happy birthday and keep entertaining us. A personality like you is born once in a millennium.

Siladitya Naskar Roy,
Bhawanipur Education Society College

To the one and only Kiiing... SRKKKKK!!! Wishing a very, very happy birthday to the owner of these lines...
n Kehte hain agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho... to poori kainaat usey tumse milane ki koshish mein lag jaati hai.
nDuniya mein kitni hai nafratein... phir bhi dilon mein hai chahatein... mar bhi jaaye pyaar waale... mitt bhi jaaye yaar waale... zinda rehti unki mohabbatein....
nKaun kambakht bardaasht karne ko peeta hai... hum toh peete hain ki yahan par baith sakein, tumhein dekh sakein, tumhe bardaasht kar sakein....
n Kabhi kabhi jeetne ke liye kuch haarna padta hai... aur haarkar jeetne waale ko baazigar kehte hain...
nAaj ek hansi aur baant lo... aaj ek dua aur maang lo... aaj ek ansoon aur pee lo... aaj ek zindagi aur jee lo... aaj ek sapna aur dekh lo... aaj... kya pata, kal ho naa ho....

Many many happy returns of the day, Mr King. I request you to continue the good work because we all watch your movies. If being romantic is an art, then truly SRK is the Picasso of it.

Anukrit Agarwal

Happy Birthday SRK, the ultimate King of romance, the man who makes anti-hero look cool, the man who carries off a beard better than anyone else, the man who seems to grow only in numbers, the man who sways us with his charm and makes us go weak in the knees. King Khan, the greatest superstar of the world, the man. Continue to bowl us over with those deep dimples, that smile, that wink and those witty tweets, that naughty grin, those brooding intense eyes, those open arms, those inspirational quotes, those oh-so-cute moments you share with your children, that crazily infectious energy that you rub off on all, that admirable attitude, that hero quality....

Anwesha Sensarma,
Gokhale Memorial Girl’s College

You are truly a King Khan who has won millions of hearts. You make people laugh and cry with your films. Your hard work, intelligence and dedication inspires. The way you treat your loved ones and your fans matters a lot. Even if I get a chance to see you after 50-60 years, I will still love you the same way I do now. You made my childhood and teenage years fantastic.

Soumyata Panja

You are not 51, you are just 26 with 25 years of cinema experience. From Deewana to Dear Zindagi, this man named Shah Rukh Khan has come a long way. A man of excellent personality, humour, and true talent began his journey by making the audience Deewana and continued to Don Bollywood with Mohabbatein and like normal people faced Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. He then told the world one fine day My Name Is Khan, riding on the Chennai Express he celebrated Happy New Year and kept on making the audience his Fan, sometimes with Kal Ho Naa Ho, sometimes with Swades, sometimes with Dilwale and finally when he began writing Dil Se, Dear Zindagi became the first line and like this, the significant journey of this Dilwale person continues in the world of cinema. He just impresses his audience with his films, words, personality and intellect and so on and will be doing so Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Om Shanti Om!

Anuvab Deb Sinha, St. Xavier’s College

My birthday wish for SRK is to continue rulling Bollywood as long as he can. He went from nothing to a global star. Though he has no godfather in Bollywood, he has established himself as one of its finest actors. I am really looking forward to Dear Zindagi. I wanna finish by saying thank you SRK... for being you! I know Dear Zindagi will definitely be a hit.

Kaushikee Bhattacharya,
Adamas International School

May your undauntable spirit get you all the success in life and keep charming us with your aura. All of us look up to you for inspiration.... ‘Woh sirf star nahin hai, duniya hai meri’.

Ekta Agarwal

Happy birthday Mr Khan... from the epiglottis. I hope Dear Zindagi smiles on you and makes you a Raees at the box-office.

Imon Sarkar, Sonarpur

He is a legend who has taught us lessons in love, romance and friendship. His ’90s movies are immortal and memorable even today. Though I was not born then, I still cherish those films whenever I watch them. His elegant and flawless acting, the intensity in his eyes and his dedication is an inspiration. On his 51st birthday, may he receive love, appreciation and open arms from his audience, and soar higher and higher. Who can forget the words, ‘Pyaar dosti hai’? The emotional dialogue  — ‘Babuji ne kahaa gaon chhod do... sab ne kahaa Paro ko chhod do... Paro ne kahaa sharaab chhod do... aaj tumne keh diya haveli chhod do... ek din aayega jab woh kahenge duniya hi chhod do’ — still moistens my eyes. May you keep achieving and winning over your obstacles.

Letter of the month

Team t2 says —

Congratulations Shubharthini Saha! Of all the letters we carried in October, your letter was extra special. Here’s what you wrote on ‘What does your grandparent mean to you?’, on October 28.

Having spent a long span of my childhood at my maternal grandparents’, I do have a special bond with them. The memories are uncountable, be it listening to fables from Dida, solving sums with Dadu, going for early morning swimming or playing cards accompanied with evening chai and snacks. As a child I was attached to my Dadu more than to my parents. A teacher of my playschool actually remembered me since I was the only child who said, “I want to go to my Dadu”, whereas others screamed for their mom-dad. Dadu is my first friend. He has taught me some really important lessons of life. He has cried a little more than me in my failures and celebrated a little more than me in my successes.

No matter how old I become, he will always remain my very special friend. There was a time when I didn’t go to bed without wishing him “goodnight” and today I hardly talk to him for days. The fault has been on my part completely. :( Sorry Dadu and Dida, for not giving you the time you deserve. You must be thinking I am a college girl now, enjoying life surrounded by friends... but trust me, the days I have spent with you were the best. I LOVE YOU LOADS. Thank you for making me feel special all these years and pampering me like no one else did.

PS: I know this little paragraph is not enough to express all my emotions, it’s just a small try.
