Rituparno Ghosh has found Byomkesh Bakshi’s Satyabati in the dusky Pauli Dam (picture right).

When approached by Rituparno, Pauli readily agreed to play wife to Prosenjit’s Byomkesh in Arthamonorthom. The first of Rituparno’s Byomkesh films, Arthamonorthom is where Sharadindu Bandopadhyay’s sleuth meets and marries Satyabati. This will be Pauli’s second film with Rituparno; the first is the yet-to-release Shob Charitra Kalponik, co-starring Bipasha Basu and Prosenjit.

“I never expected Rituda to offer me another film after Shob Charitra Kalponik and that too a role opposite Bumbada (Prosenjit)! I am very happy that he has thought of me as Satyabati. But I am yet to start my homework as I haven’t discussed the script with Rituda,” said Pauli.

In Shob Charitra Kalponik Pauli plays Prosenjit’s muse, while Bipasha plays his Bengali wife.
