Solo album: Tabeer, the Sufiana-folk album, dropped in 2008 and it featured songs like Naina and Pagalpan.
Coke Studio Pakistan: His performance of Kuch ajab khail in 2009 was an instant success.
... and his songs
Manchala (Hasee Toh Phasee)
Shafqat lends pathos and romance to this Vishal-Shekhar number that captures the highs and lows of love.
Allah waariyan (Yaariyan)
Scored by Calcutta-boy Arko Pravo Mukherjee and mesmerisingly rendered by Shafqat, this emotional number from the teen romance continues to climb the charts.
Ras ke bhare torey nain (Satyagraha)
The film may have been a washout, but this seductive number picturised on Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor stands out for Shafqat’s powerful yet poignant singing.
Teri jhuki nazar (Murder 3)
A top request on radio shows even two years after its release, this romantic number from the Randeep Hooda-Aditi Rao Hydari-Sara Loren thriller benefits from Shafqat’s versatile vocals.
Phir le aaya dil (Barfi!)
The more popular version of this Pritam song was rendered by Arijit Singh, but the version sung by Shafqat is distinguished by his ability to mould his voice to any song, any situation.
Zindagi se (Raaz 3D)
Zindagi se churaake/ Zindagi mein basaake/ Zindagani banaya hai tujhe. Jeet Gannguli’s popular track filmed on Emraan Hashmi and Esha Gupta got a fillip from Shafqat’s mellifluous voice.
Dildaara (Ra.One)
Chammak challo may have been the bigger crowd-puller, but Dildaara was, hands down, the best number from Ra.One. All thanks to Shafqat’s voice and Shah Rukh’s screen presence.
Bin tere (I Hate Luv Storys)
This Vishal-Shekhar number picturised on Imran Khan-Sonam Kapoor soared on Shafqat’s powerful singing.
Tere naina (My Name Is Khan)
The romance in Shah Rukh’s eyes… Kajol’s impish charm… and Shafqat’s honey-dipped voice. This number continues to be a romantic fave.
Tum mile (Tum mile)
Shafqat’s rockstar vocals lend tone and texture to this Pritam number that lives on long after the film has released and sunk.
Yeh honsla (Dor)
Shafqat gave ample proof of his folksy creed in this moving and magnetic number from the Nagesh Kukunoor title. A soothing listen.
Mitwa (Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna)
His breakthrough Bolly track is distinguished by Javed Akhtar’s lyrics, Shah Rukh’s romance and, of course, Shafqat’s beautiful voice.
