After Shah Rukh Khan and Akshay Kumar, it’s finally Rajanikanth. The Sivaji superstar will be seen in and as Shankar’s Robot. Leading integrated Tamil media and entertainment company Ayngaran International, an Eros International company, will produce Robot.

Robot will also mark the coming together of Rajanikanth, Shankar and A.R. Rahman after Sivaji. Expected to be the costliest film ever to be made in India, Robot will be produced in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

“It’s very exciting to be working again with talents like Rajanikanth and A.R. Rahman,” said Shankar. “Combined with production and distribution muscle of Ayngaran-Eros International, Robot has the potential of becoming this year’s biggest film.”

Rajanikanth, on his part, commented: “I am immensely happy to be working in Robot. This film by Shankar is one of its kind on the Indian screen. No one has done it before.”

Robot was first offered to Shah Rukh Khan, who had initially agreed to not just star in but also produce the film. But then after more discussions with Shankar, SRK backed out, forcing the director to talk to Akshay Kumar. But it was Rajani who was meant to rewrite history, yet again.
