Swastika Mukherjee sang along with father Santu Mukherjee at the launch of their Rabindrasangeet album, Amar Mukti Aaloy Aaloy, at Taj Bengal. “Recording the songs with my father was an overwhelming experience.... Singing Rabindrasangeet came naturally to me. I grew up in an atmosphere of music. My favourite Rabindrasangeet singers are Debabrata Biswas, Kanika Bandopadhyay and Mohan Singh. I feel Tagore songs sound best with the esraj,” said Swastika. When does she sing Rabindrasangeet? “It happens all of a sudden, any time of the day... when you are happy or sad. And if I am humming a song, it is probably Rabindrasangeet,” she added.
