Rimjhim Mitra is a bindaas dancer, Emon. Ritwick Bhattacharya is Akash, a poet. Abir Chatterjee is an eligible bachelor, Vicky. Payel Sarkar is Piya, an ambitious young girl. With a bunch of television stars, director duo Abhijit Guha-Sudeshna Roy are ready with Cross Connection.
Sudeshna and Abhijit are pinning their hopes on this one to break their big-screen jinx — their most ambitious project Jodi Love Dile Na Prane with June and Prosenjit has been pushed back after producers Chivach Media backed out; their second feature Teen Yaari Katha awaits release four years after completion.
“Cross Connection is a romantic comedy and a very today’s film. The young generation can connect with the film. When Jodi Love Dile Na Prane got postponed we thought of making a light-hearted comedy. We came across the story in Unish Kuri and Padmanava Dasgupta wrote the script…. We are all charged up about Cross Connection,” says Sudeshna.
Cross Connection revolves around two couples. Emon and Akash are in a heady kind of affair until one day they both have a heated argument and Emon snaps ties with her lover. But days later when she tries calling up Akash to sort things out, there’s a cross connection and she ends up speaking to Vicky. The two meet and fall in love.
Heartbroken, Akash meets Piya and links up with her to teach Emon a lesson. Months later when Emon and Vicky are about to tie the knot they decide to go for a vacation to Mandarmani. Emon meets Akash and there’s a twist in the tale...
Produced by Mumbai-based Acropolis, Cross Connection has six tracks.
Neel Dutt is composing the music; Anjan Dutt, Rupam and Ujjaini are part of the playback team. Calcutta apart, a major portion of the film will be shot in Mandarmani.
Cross Connection goes on the floors from December 31.
After Cross Connection, Sudeshna and Abhijit hope to start shooting Jodi Love… “It’s a very ambitious project and we are in talks with other producers,” says Sudeshna.
