What: New menu at Burnt Garlic
Where: Priya cinema, ground floor, 95 Rashbehari Avenue
Open: 12.30pm to 11pm
Meal for two: Rs 800-plus

Burnt Garlic, the cafe bar on the ground floor of Priya cinema, has a new menu after serving a motley mix of Indian, tandoor and Continental dishes since it opened in December.

Gone are the Indian, tandoor and the all-day breakfast sections. You now have a pasta and a burger section alongside salads, soups, starters or nibbles, pizzas, main course dishes and desserts. More options in chicken, fish, meat and veggies, a slashed pricing, increased portions and more Oriental flavours are the highlights. The timings have changed too. Now the cafe opens at 12.30pm instead of 11am, and the last order is accepted at 11pm.

“The new menu is in response to the demand for more variety. My personal favourite is the Savour It salad and the Pork Pizza has become a hit with my friends,” said owner Esha Dutta.

The bar also has a new cocktail menu to suit the summer palate.

Tomato and Lemongrass Soup: The crunch of the bread crumbs goes well with the slightly lemony thick, warm soup. Rs 165
Savour It salad: This mix of iceberg lettuce, arugula, cherry tomatoes, fresh mozzarella and walnuts is a healthy eater’s fave. The sweet-and-sour orange dressing adds winter flavours to this summer plate. Rs 195
The Frozen Mango Coconut Daiquiri is a thick mango shake with the punch of white rum. Rs 245
Light yet flavourful, the Pan Seared Lemon Butter Bhetki is for those who love a well-grilled fish more than meat. The credit goes to the zingy lemon-butter combo of course! Rs 425
Curry leaves, coconut water and vodka make the Curry Patta Coconut Vodkatini a great summer sip. Rs 345
The Oregano Chicken Burger is a Burnt Garlic special among the five burgers on the menu because of the garlic cheese sauce that coats the chicken patty. Rs 285
Those who love their tipple sweet and citrusy can try the Strawberry Kiwi Mojito. Rs 245
Crispy Fried Chicken: The magic lies in the little bowl of burnt garlic vinaigrette which, when sprinkled on the chicken pieces, adds a citrusy-chilli-garlic punch to the dish. Rs 275
Caramel Cake with Hot Toffee Sauce, one of the four desserts on the menu, strikes a neat balance between its buttery flavour and the rich, caramel sweetness. Rs 175
Pork Pizza with Rocket Leaves: Lots of cheese and pepperoni slices make a yummy combo with fresh rocket leaves. Rs 365
