Jayabrato Chatterjee’s 2008 movie Lovesongs: Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow (picture right), starring Jaya Bachchan and Om Puri, will be screened at the Tongues On Fire Asian Film Festival in London, from March 5-14.
Themed around Asian cinema with a focus on women’s issues, the festival is hosting a Jaya Bachchan retrospective as well as conferring the Lifetime Achievement Award on her. Guddi, Abhimaan, Hazaar Chaurasi Ki Maa, Kora Kagaz and Uphaar are part of the retrospective package.
“Lovesongs will open the festival with a red carpet premiere at Apollo Cinema in the heart of Piccadilly. I am keen to meet Mira Nair, who is coming for my premiere, along with Gurinder Chadha and Meera Sayal!” said Jayabrato, who will attend the festival along with daughter Shahana who stars in the film as Jaya’s daughter.
