A fantastic actor can be a fantastic dresser too, and some of Bollywood’s male actors are delivering on both counts. Stylists work overtime to make these actors look sharp and they, on their part, are quite fearless about bucking the trend. We pick five male actors who, with their out-of-the-box personal style, are creating a mood board for everyone else.

Vijay Varma

While he has raised the bar on how to play menacing characters with Reema Kagti-Zoya Akhtar’s Prime Video series Dahaad and the Netflix film Darlings, Vijay Varma also knows how to kill with his looks. Give him any fabric, silhouette, texture, print, accessory or hairstyle, and he will make it his own. Varma’s stylist Vrinda Narang surely has a field day at work. Hop over to the actor’s Instagram to check out his posts from Dahaad’s recent screening at the Berlinale and Cannes Film Festival. Just like us, actress and Varma’s friend Tamannaah Bhatia often drops emojis on his pictures.

Gulshan Devaiah

Armed with a degree from National Institute of Fashion Technology, Gulshan Devaiah has a trained eye for fashion. This talented performer has hit the purple patch in his acting career too, turning out back-to-back solid performances in films like Badhaai Do and Blurr, and web shows such as Dahaad, Duranga and Shiksha Mandal. With Guns & Gulaabs ready to stream on Netflix, Devaiah is channelling his experimental side in his choice of roles and his personal style. At the Dahaad promotions, he teamed a few black press-on nails from co-star Sonakshi Sinha’s entrepreneurial venture Soezi with a long black kurta. On other days you might spot him in printed sheer shirts, or long colourful shrugs with a beaded neck chain.

Rajkummar Rao

The Badhaai Do actor allows himself a free run in his choice of outfits when he’s travelling and promoting films. Rajkummar Rao’s collection of printed and colourful shirts and jackets are our favourite. Just like his wide range of screen characters, his suave yet uncomplicated outfits make one stop and take notice of him. The best thing about the Monica, O My Darling actor is that he knows what works for him. Rao goes for a style that is subdued yet an all-out fashion statement, which is relatable for a lot of men wanting to play around with their looks.

Ali Fazal

Take a cue from the Mirzapur actor on what to wear while going out with friends, to a family function or to an office party. Ali Fazal is the quintessential fashionable man for all seasons. There’s hardly anything that he can’t pull off, be it a traditional sherwani or a classic black suit. His everyday wardrobe is effortlessly casual too while bearing his personal touch. And we love how he keeps experimenting with his hair.

Babil Khan

Like father, like son. Babil K. Khan is a natty dresser like his dad, the late actor Irrfan Khan. The Qala actor is a dream for fashion designers for his penchant to push the envelope without worrying about how he will be perceived. The touch of quirkiness that Babil brings to his style outings through his edgy, gender-fluid looks makes him stand out among the new crop of actors who tend to dress alike. And nobody knows how to rock accessories quite like him.
