The molestation of a 17-year-old actress on an Air Vistara flight has brought to the fore the problem women face and, especially, those in the glare of publicity.
This is, however, not the first time an actress has been put through such agony. Though the minor girl decided to post the incident on Instagram, brave for her age, there are several actresses who have gone through such torment in their career. Recently actress Adah Sharma of 1920 fame had complained how a fan asked her for a kiss (not on the cheek but on his lips).
Adah did not reply but preferred to tweet: “If a boy meets me for the first time and asks me for a KISS on whichever part of his anatomy, REPEATEDLY he would at most times get punched, slapped or kicked in his groin. If your penis is intact consider yourself lucky because my kicks are precise and lethal.”
Vidya Balan, who was at the Calcutta airport for the Begum Jaan shoot, had slammed a male fan who had approached her for a selfie. The fan tried to put his arm around her without taking her permission. Though Vidya warned him, the man didn’t pay heed. The Kahaani actor then lashed out at him saying: “What do you think you are doing? This is wrong, can’t you behave?”

Vidya says she is uncomfortable when strangers touch her. “I only allow people whom I know come close to me. I was very uncomfortable and made sure that he knew it,” says the actress.
Bipasha Basu, too, was groped at a pub by a stranger. She had said the incident had left a horrid memory. The Jism actress soon upped her security and revealed that she made sure never to let strangers come near her.

Gauhar Khan was another actress who was slapped by a man for wearing “short clothes” on the sets of a reality show. “Yes, I was attacked. The physical aspect being a major part of it. But that coward tried to camouflage his cowardice by his rubbish claims of wanting to send out a message of what he thought the youth of India needed today. According to what I have been reading in the media of the incident. Who allows a moron to decide how a girl should dress? Why doesn’t a loser like him have the fear of law before he decides to attack a girl, who is unarmed, unprepared of someone, who is trying to work to the best of her abilities? If actresses are victims of such harmful mindsets, how can the common girl or woman be safe?” Gauhar asked.
