The father likes to do a pink on the greens. The son questions: “Aapko pink achha lagta hai?!” Jyoti Randhawa and son Zoravar. In town to play the McLeod Russel Tour Championship at RCGC, t2 caught up with them on Christmas Day.

This Christmas you are in Calcutta. How do you normally celebrate Christmas when you are back home?

Jyoti: Christmas is not very big with us but we like to celebrate. It’s good to go buy some gifts for myself, my wife (actress Chitrangda Singh), for Zoravar (son). But luckily or unluckily we are here! Calcutta is a great place to be in during Christmas.

Is it the spirit that makes it different?

Jyoti: Yeah! I think it is the only city in the country right now which celebrates Christmas like it should be. And the ambience at RCGC is fantastic!

And you clearly love spending time with Zoravar. He is one naughty boy!

Jyoti: Yes! We are naughty! His school is off. It is chhutti. Mom has gone to Bombay. She is travelling. So, I got him along. Then we are back together next week. We celebrate New Year’s together… all of us. Zoravar is six…

Zoravar: Six-and-a-half!

Jyoti: I beg your pardon! Six-and-a-half!

He loves travelling with you?

Jyoti: He loves to be with me. And I love it too!

Zoravar: Hmmmmm....

He is too young, but do you see a golfer in him?

Jyoti: He swings, he hits the ball! He is fully into golf.

Zoravar: My daddy is my favourite golfer! Why? I don’t know!

Jyoti: He is the best, huh?

When you are not playing golf or with Zoravar, what keeps you busy?

Jyoti: I listen to a lot of music, but I am not an indoor kind of a person. I am mostly outdoors. I am either jumping out of a plane or I am going shooting. I am a skydiver and have done 150 jumps. I go to Dubai or America for a jump when I get the time. My highest jump was 16,000ft in America.

Zoravar: 16,000ft kitna hota hai?

Jyoti: Yahaan se? 10ft oopar!

Zoravar: Aapko 20ft jaana chahiye space mein!

Jyoti: And last week, I was shooting the national championship… I am a rifle shooter. So, I was doing 50m shooting. So, that was fun. And, I am also into fast motorcycles and cars!

What’s the fastest car you want to drive?

Jyoti: Hmm...

Zoravar: Hmmm… Formula One!

Jyoti: Yes! He and I went to Buddh International Circuit this time and were amazed by the speed!

Who is your favourite F1 driver?

Jyoti: Michael Schumacher, for me. I don’t know about him.

Zoravar: Mujhe toh naam nahin pata!

Jyoti: That was his first experience.

How many cars do you have?

Jyoti: I have an Audi S4, Land Rover, BMW X3...

Zoravar: BMW?!

Jyoti: Jo mummy ke paas hai.

Zoravar: Bombay mein na?

Do you love watching films?

Zoravar: I love movies! (most excited)

Jyoti: If we are not doing anything then we are watching movies.

Zoravar: And sleeping!

Jyoti: When we are watching films, I go to sleep! He watches.

Who do you watch?

Zoravar: Mamma! Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, The Amazing Spider-Man. My favourite is Superman.

Jyoti: I like to watch Robert Downey Jr. because of Sherlock Holmes and Iron Man. I also love Daniel Day-Lewis. Awesome actor!

What was the last film that you watched?

Jyoti: Dhoom:3! Zoravar, me and mummy… I didn’t like it much. Zoravar liked it.

Zoravar: Yeah! Dhoom, dhoom, dhoom!

Would you like to take Zoravar out anywhere while you are in Calcutta?

Jyoti: Every night we are going to go out and eat at a different restaurant.

Zoravar: I want a Christmas present. Gun!
