Composer-musicians Gourav-Roshin and vocalist Papon have collaborated with Sony Music on a soulful romantic song titled Akhiyan. The video features (video sharing networking site) TikTok celebs Manav and Garima.
The composers, who have been together for the last 12 years, said the song was made in the Sony office.
“We came up with this number when we were doing our last single and wasting time. We recorded on the phone. Good things happen while wasting time,”said Gourav. “Later, Papon came on board. He’s a fabulous singer. It’s his first Punjabi single.”
Papon said “it was fun doing the song” for the composer duo. “I think music videos are making a comeback in a huge way. India doesn’t have too much independence as far as singles are concerned. The film music scene has changed the entire music quotient. We have to wait for someone who will take singles a long way. We don’t create because it does not reach people currently,” he added.
Gourav and Roshin — who have had a roller-coaster ride as far as their careers are concerned — are also confident about singles making a comeback. Indie music, they said, goes a long way.
“We have faced a lot of ups and downs. There has been a long journey of struggle but it’s been good for us. Last one year has been good. We have taken a stand on certain things and planned on working in a certain way. Our last composition was Mungda for Total Dhamaal. We get a lot of work but we often refuse to do them. We want to do a better job.
“We have a lot of content on original stuff and great music which we are proud of. There is no pretence in our work. No one tells us what to do, as musicians that is a big deal for us,” said Gourav.
On the other hand Papon is looking forward to a “lot of work and a lot of films” in 2020. “This is going to be a great year as a lot of musicians will surface with their music in India,” he added.
