Food & Drink faves: Mexican Fajita and Arabic Falafel were the fastest-vanishing items. Kids loved the chocolate-based mocktails.

She was Wearing: Jeans and tops for teens and tweens; tiny tots flaunted pink frocks and Santa caps.

Show-stealer: Kush Sharaf showed everyone how to shake a leg and so grabbed the spotlight.

Clubspeak: “This year we introduced new rides for kids and exotic items for foodies,” said Sanjeev Ghosh, general manager, Space Circle.

Fun and games: Mamata Banerjee to Lord Krishna, little ones had a field day dressing up for the go-as-you-like round with parents cheering them on at the DKS do. A sit-and-draw contest on Xmas and New Year themes saw a band of six- to 10-year-olds getting busy with crayons and paint. Another highlight was a magic show that left the little ones wide-eyed and open-mouthed. But the best was saved for last — a visit by Santa Claus with his bag of goodies!

Food faves: The turkey buffet by the poolside got the kids all excited. Many took generous helpings of cold cuts and the roast turkey.

Clubspeak: “Our club ladies took charge of today’s event and the kids had a gala time. We had planned this day keeping the children in mind,” said Hironmoy Chatterjee, general secretary, DKS.

Revellerspeak: “I had a lot of fun today. The magic show and Santa’s visit made me very happy,” said eight-year-old Saurabh Rai.

Music by: A live band played instrumental tracks from carols like Hark The Herald Angels Sing to pop classics like Never on a Sunday, A 100 Miles and Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head. The Rajput Regiment Infantry band present at the Royal added a regal edge withbagpipes and drum-rolls.

Food & Drink: The lunch was the highlight with the Continental fare featuring soups, salads, a live pasta counter and wow dishes like Shepherd’s Pie, Lasagne Verdure in Tomato and Cheese Sauce and Roast Chicken, plus the desserts. Free-flowing white and red wine, beer, whisky and vodka got the crowd in the Christmas spirit.

She was Wearing: With red and white the dress code for the afternoon, many turned up in festive colours. Dresses with sheer stockings was a favourite.

Clubspeak: “We haven’t invited more than 300-350 people here in order to make the gathering intimate and personal. Our club colour is red and it goes perfectly with the festive season. The band adds to the cheer. Our intention was to allow our members to have a perfect laid-back Christmas lunch,” said M.M. Singh, CEO, RCGC.

Revellerspeak: “Though I am studying in Bangalore, I can’t think of missing a Calcutta Christmas. So here I am spending time with my family. This party is so cosy and nice and the food is delicious,” smiled Rashmita Roy Chowdhury, a first-year student of law.

Show-stealers: The bachcha brigade, from tiny totsin prams to little ladies in pink. The babies’ day out on the Royal greens summed up the Xmas mood.
