The release of Ayushmann Khurrana-starrer Dream Girl 2 has been postponed to August 25, the actor-singer announced on Monday, requesting fans to wait a “little longer” to see his Pooja in theatres.
The comedy drama, a sequel to Ayushmann’s 2019 film Dream Girl, was earlier slated to release on July 7.
“My dear lovers, your hearts will ring again after waiting four years. The preparations for this should also be just as good. So wait a little longer and keep sending lots of love. Now we won’t be meeting on July 7, instead you will get a kiss from Pooja ji on August 25,” read a note Ayushmann shared on Instagram.
Dream Girl, featuring Nushrratt Bharuccha opposite Ayushmann, showed the actor take on the role of Karamveer who lands a job at a call center because of his ability to talk in a feminine voice. After garnering a huge fan-following with his calls, Karamveer falls into trouble when his fans try to meet him in person.
Helmed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, the makers have been releasing fun teasers to promote the film’s sequel. The latest teaser from the makers showed Ayushmann’s Pooja flirting with Salman Khan’s Bhaijaan over a phone call.
The first teaser of Dream Girl 2 showed Pooja talking to Shah Rukh Khan’s Pathaan over the phone. The second teaser, released on March 7, showed Pooja in conversation with Ranbir Kapoor, just a day before the release of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar.
Produced by Balaji Motion Pictures, Dream Girl 2 also stars Ananya Panday, Annu Kapoor, Paresh Rawal, Asrani, Manjot Singh and Vijay Raaz.
