The facade:
Remember where Sourav’s used to be, after KFC and diagonally opposite Peter Cat? That’s where The Myx is located. The first three levels of the dance-and-dine destination will have three restaurants — Aaira for Indian, Chilli Wok for Oriental and Out of D’World that will offer a taste of world cuisine. The fourth floor is Blink, a lounge for private parties. The fifth and sixth floors make up Myx — the penthouse nightclub. We heart the facade of the building done up in sandstone, and with lights emitting from laser-cut and peeled metallic sheets.

The entrance:
A giant logo leads guests to the main entrance. Why the name Myx? “This place is a ‘mix’ of everything — food, music, a nightclub feel in the first level and a lounge-y feel in the upper level,” said DJ Vicky Metharamani, owner of The Myx. A strict admission policy will ensure “the right mix of people” too. “We will look for the best profiles, presentable party-goers with the right body language. Random stags won’t be entertained. We want a place where women will feel safe even if they come alone. A good crowd is very important for a nightclub,” said Abhijit Dev, senior club manager.

view from the console:
The best view of Myx is definitely from the elevated DJ’s console. Spacious and edgy describe the look of the 3,300sq ft area (dance floor and the mezzanine floor) that can accommodate 300 people. It has an 18ft-high ceiling with revolving LED lights and beams. Besides DJs, the club will have visual and light jockeys. “We couldn’t have increased the floor space without making it two levels. The double-level also gives it a great vibe. We thought this place would be done in eight months but it took us three years. It’s a DJ’s dream to have a place of his own and Myx has been my dream,” said DJ Vicky.

the bar:
Level one of Myx has a three-sided bar. “There are bars in almost all the zones but this one is the biggest and is open on three ends, which will ensure faster and smoother service as guests won’t have to wait long for drinks,” said DJ Vicky.

mezzanine floor:
Spread across 1,300sq ft, it has ample seating area and a bar. “This floor has a lounge-y feel and people can relax and enjoy their drink at leisure,” said Vicky. The zone is equipped with an LED TV and lights in geometrical patterns, which will be dimmed on regular club nights “because people like soft lighting in a lounge”. The floor packs a smoking area complete with glass walls and with steel sitting blocks, say goodbye to puff burns!

BLINK:
Blink, on the fourth floor, is a banquet lounge specially for hosting private parties. Spread over 1,400sq ft, it can hold up to 100 people. The den is done up with mirrors, has comfy couches, tables and chairs, an exclusive bar section, a DJ console and is also equipped with a separate dining buffet area. The wooden flooring and soft lighting is just right to set your party going!

DECOR:
One of the giant walls of the nightclub has 3D-origami pattern designs made of leather panels with lights that change colour from red to blue. “This concept emerged from the laser beam lights usually used in nightclubs. The facing wall has iron patterns and has been kept very subtle to highlight the 3D wall,” said Anshul Choda, of Bangalore-based Sanctuary Arch, and the man behind the much-talked-about Puma Sports Bar in Bangalore. The wall behind the console has reflective 3D-wallpaper that lends it an illusion of glass. “Instead of a regular clean look, we wanted to give Myx a raw and industrial look without too much bling but with lots of edge,” said DJ Vicky. A 12ft LED HD projector will screen FIFA World Cup matches to start with.

F&B:
There’s more than just finger food as Myx will serve the bestsellers from its restaurant menus. Munch on Fish Sticks, Greek Styled Stuffed Tandoori Mushroom and more. The nightclub will also stir up interesting concoctions. So sip on innovative mocktails like Myx Mary (a spicy mix of guava and lime) or cocktails like Planter’s Punch (white and dark rum with orange and pineapple juice).

music:
Resident DJs (-r) Nikhil, Anik and Sami will focus on international music. On Wednesdays, expect retro, hip hop and commercial house, on Fridays international music, and on Saturdays, commercial house and some Bollywood. “Our target is the younger lot from 20 to 40 because 40 is the new 30!” said Vicky, who started his career as a DJ in Anticlock (now Underground).
Expect “refined” sound, thanks to “the premium Saturn series of Ohm”. “This is the third nightclub in India using this music system. The walls have acoustical treatment that helps in the absorption of sound. Whereas when you have a plain brick wall, the sound always hits back,” explained DJ Vicky.
