As crazy as it sounds, the sushi pizza is The Fatty Bao’s way of marrying the most popular Japanese dish with the most popular Italian dish. While the base is made with sushi rice, the toppings vary depending on vegetarian and non-vegetarian options. We tried the Cross-bred Tuna Pizza Sushi that comes with thin slices of yuzu-marinated tuna along with jalapeno, cream cheese mayo, tobiko, fried capers and mustard cress. As you bite into the pizza, the sushi rice base along with the marinated tuna and cream cheese mayo provide a perfect balance of flavours. The jalapenos add the right amount of zing. Rs 645

Think Japanese food and the first thing that comes to mind is the sushi. You must have heard about different varieties of sushi too, like Nigiri and Norimaki. But what about pizza sushi or pita pocket sushi? Well, giving the traditional sushi an innovative twist is the Asian gastropub, The Fatty Bao, with 14 different variations of sushi.
“For a meal that seems so simple, sushi seems to intimidate even its most loyal fans. While sushi has morphed into many different forms and shapes around the world, it remains the most popular Japanese food and there’s so much to explore in this delicacy. What we have tried to do with the promotion is to make it more fun and experiment with different forms, ingredients, flavours that haven’t been explored yet,” said Prashanth Puttaswamy, executive chef, The Fatty Bao.
Cross-bred Spicy Salmon Taco Sushi: Spicy and crispy with a tang, this is a good bet for those who love taco and fish. While the tobiko lends an authentic touch, the avocado refreshes the palate. Rs 545
