Just like his boy-next-door vibes, Rajkummar Rao’s fashion statement is cool and simple. The Newton star took some quick style questions from t2 on the sidelines of walking for Rajesh Pratap Singh at Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai on Thursday.
Casual and effortless, yet with a certain spunk… that’s what Rajkummar Rao’s style comes across as. Have you always been conscious of how you dress up?
Not really. It actually depends on the occasion. I try and keep it very easy, comfortable and something that goes with my personality. I don’t experiment too much, but I don’t mind experimenting in future.
If Rajkummar Rao becomes experimental, he would wear…
I think I would just wear my T-shirt, track pants and sport shoes throughout. There is so much comfort in these things.
So what fashion phase are you going through?
When I was growing up in Delhi, I was doing serious theatre there. So, I didn’t care about what I was wearing because I was so much into my work. But here in Bombay, of course, it is a glamour world and especially now when there are paparazzi everywhere and the media writes about what you are wearing... so I think right now I am a little bit aware about what I wear. I keep a check. The credit goes to my stylist Isha Bhansali as well. She is doing a fab job.

Do you have a fashion icon?
I like what Ryan Gosling wears. I am very fond of his styling.
Are you conscious about what you eat?
I am a vegetarian. So lots of tofu, chana and quinoa.
Take two
Favourite designers: I am a big fan of Rajesh Pratap Singh. I like Manish’s (Malhotra) work; he is a friend as well. I also like Rohit Bal’s work a lot.

The fittest actress you have worked with: So many of them actually… Sonam (Kapoor), Kangana (Ranaut)... Patralekhaa (girlfriend) is so fitness conscious. Most of them actually.
