t2’s 11th birthday called for something special and we decided to celebrate the occasion with... who else but our dear readers!

We invited around 60 readers who write in regularly to t2 Talk — our Feedback space — to party with us on February 4 at Swissotel Kolkata Neotia Vista. The nightclub Maaya and the rooftop lounge Splash were decked out in party colours, and it was all about making new friends and bonding over our common love — t2!

And all we can say to you, the reader, is: Thank you!

This faux feather boa in ultra violet , the Pantone colour of 2018, was a pop pick. We heart Roopkatha Dam’s smile and swag!

Anwesha Sensharma (extreme right) was one of the most enthusiastic dancers. “I danced to almost all the songs, but loved Baby doll the most. I am already missing the party!” said Anwesha. Tua Ghatak (fifth from left) had a great time dancing to the Jagga Jasoos hit Ullu ka pattha. “I love reading the books and Bollywood pages in t2,” said Tua.

‘Dear t2 and Team, keep making the mornings!’ That was the message on a ‘t2’ mug that Anuvab D. Sinha, a student of St. Xavier’s College, gifted us. “I got to meet a few of my friends from college and they write in a lot to t2, just like me. Interacting with Team t2 was also a lot of fun,” said Anuvab.

This was the ‘Best Sunday’ for (left to right) Bohnisikha Mukherjee, Kamalika Das and Chetana Saha. “Before going to the party I was so nervous, but once I reached, you all made it feel like home. The best part was making so many friends. Every now and then, somebody walked up and spoke to me,” said Chetana, a Class XII student of The BSS School.

DJ Koushik, resident DJ of Swissotel, got the party started with his commercial and Bolly set. Shape of You, Despacito, Oonchi hai building, New Rules and Bom Diggy were some of his top tracks.

DANCE LIKE EVERYONE’S WATCHING: Gallan goodiyaan, Kala chashma, Badri ki dulhania and Ban ja rani were the top tracks and we loved the moves of the girl gang!

COOL CAKE: (Left) The birthday cake from Kookie Jar was styled like the t2 Talk page and carried a special message for every t2 reader out there. Here’s to many more!

No birthday is complete without cake and Team t2 had to have a bite of this customised cake that  reader Ittequa Turkan got for us! #Yum

(L-R) Disha Kanoria, Harsha Jaluka, Anisha Biswas and Shubharthini Saha gave us some #PoseGoals. “Thanks to  t2 for giving us such a nice afternoon. We loved posing for pictures and Boomerangs,” said Disha, a class XII student.

The party people made a beeline for the fun props — colourful wigs to giant sunglasses, dialogue cards to feather boas to glitter party hats. Barnita Dutta was quite an eye-catcher with her pink wig and blue boa.
“The party was a great experience. I made some amazing friends and captured so many special moments on my camera,” said Barnita, who loves reading the Fashion and Bolly pages in t2.

(L-R) Saurav Mookherji, Arshiyan Ali, Riddhi Rit, Sayantan Biswas and Anubhav Chatterjee had fun posing with giant glasses and dialogue cards. “The party was lit. As soon as I stepped in, I was welcomed warmly. From the crazy props to the foot-tapping music to the delicious lunch, the day couldn’t have been better. Thanks a ton for making us feel special,” said Anubhav, a student of Methodist School, Dankuni, who loves the ‘t2 Talk’ section because he likes to read what fellow readers have to say. “I have been writing to t2 since 2014 and have had more than 30 letters published. I used to read the feedback letters of other readers, but it was so good to meet them in person,” said Arshiyan

Ankita Bakshi (left) and Payal Roy caught up for a chit-chat.

“I am not going to leave the dance floor till I win!” said Prajukta Sen who was a bundle of energy. So much so that the 15-year-old t2 fan rocked the dance floor even when the others were tucking into lunch. Yes, she won our contest for the one who danced the longest!

CHILL ZONE: Splash, the rooftop lounge and bar that offers a panoramic view of the city’s skyline, was the chosen spot for selfies and groupfies because of its natural light and picture-pretty cabanas. And many Facebook DPs were clicked here!

What better way to brighten the day than a bunch of roses. t2 says thank you to Sangeeta Ghosh Dastidar for the lovely gesture!

LOOK AND FEEL: The entrance to Maaya, the hotel’s party spot, wore a happy look with colourful balloons and props, making our guests go click-click as soon they walked in on a sunny Sunday afternoon.

Joyita Basak won us over with a special birthday frame. “The most wonderful part was making new friends. Thank you so much for gifting me a memorable day, which I’ll definitely cherish,” smiled Joyita.

LEt’s PLAY: Manaswita Sinha and Deveshi Bose had a go at foosball.

Pallabi Bhadra rocked her colour-coordinated glasses and feather boa.

Fixing a party prop or helping to click pictures, the afternoon kickstarted many new friendships with the readers bonding over their love for t2. “The props were so cool, especially the wigs! The party was the perfect way to meet the other readers and  Team t2,” said Deveshi Bose (right), a student of Pratt Memorial School, seen here with t2 reader Prajukta Sen.

Kar gayi chull to Despacito, Manaswita Sinha had some cool steps to show off, winning the prize for the dancer with the craziest moves. “This was the crowning moment of the afternoon. I couldn’t have asked for more,” said the regular t2 Talk writer who turns to the Bollywood pages first thing every morning.

The boy gang — (l-r) Riddhi Rit, Shankha Shuvro Chattopadhyay, Sayantan Biswas and Saurav Mookherji —  had a fun time. “Sunday was memorable. I got to meet Team t2 and my fellow readers. It was a dream come true,” said Sayantan.

Shilpa Bhaskaran (left) and Swarnali Basu bonded over a dualfie. “The cake cutting  followed by groupfies and then the dance... it was a lot of fun. I was able to make friends. Now I have a new family, a fun- loving ‘t2 family’,” said Swarnali, a student of Adamas International School.

B’DAY fun: It was reader Shilpa Bhaskaran’s birthday and, of course, we had to get a cake for her! “Celebrating my birthday with Team t2 and the other readers totally made my day. It was great to meet so many new people. We now have a buzzing WhatsApp group,” said Shilpa (left) who shared her birthday cake with Roopkatha Dam, who celebrated her birthday on February 3. “That you guys not only remembered but also got us a birthday cake was a pleasant surprise. The memory will stay with me for a really long time! My ISC exams are close, but this party was just too good to be missed,” said Roopkatha, a Class XII student of Loreto Day School, Bowbazar.

(L-R) Sreoshi Bakshi, Ritu Nayak and Tithi Poddar had their party prop game strong. “The props, music, food and the whole vibe were awesome! Chatting with other t2 readers and dancing in such a huge group was so much fun! It was the coolest party ever!” said Ritu.

‘Dream come true’ and ‘t2 is my bae’ — Tanima Kundu (above) and Rai Guchait (top) were only too happy to pose with their dialogue cards that mirrored their love for t2. “I had been craving to meet Team t2 and I was at a loss for words when I got the invite for the party. It was an exhilarating afternoon. Loads and loads of love to each one of you at Team t2,” said Tanima.

Utsa Dey surprised us with this beautiful card. “It took me two days to make the birthday card because I wanted to make it special. My exams are going on, but I couldn’t miss the party. t2 Talk, celebrity interviews and city news are my favourite reads in t2,” said the Class XII student at Mahadevi Birla World Academy. We loved the card, Utsa!

“I could put a face to the t2 team members whose stories I have been reading. I don’t usually dance much, but I made an exception for this party. I also liked meeting all the other readers. It’s like we have a small community of our own now,” said Yubasana Kapas, a Class VIII student of Gokhale Memorial Girls’ School.

“We are like a team — you guys work hard each day to give us  great coverage and we show our love for them through our feedback. And I hope this relationship only grows stronger with each passing day,” said Manaswita Sinha, who got us a cute handmade card.

(L-R, top row) Dimple Periwal, Arundhati Das, Dithi Sen, Harsha Jaluka, Anisha Biswas, Ankita Sen and (l-r, sitting) Ahana Bhattacharya, Suchandra Kundu and Ankita Periwal were a happy bunch, posing for the t2 camera. “I was happy to meet the other t2 readers who I only knew by their names, but now it feels as if we have been friends for a long time. Only t2 could come up with such a party!” said Suchandra.

The star of the menu was t2’s Love Daab — a tender coconut mousse that made it a happy ending. The other dessert picks were Hot Chocolate Mud Pie, Malpua and Rabri.
