Have you ever come across people with wiry-looking unmanageable hair that seems to go in every direction except the one that it is supposed to go in? It looks untamed, fly-away and very dry. Most people think that oiling it once a week is sufficient care for dry hair. However, dry hair is often a result of internal problems and improper diet. I have also come across smokers who suffer from dry hair.

There are some simple natural solutions that can be incorporated into your lifestyle that will make your hair softer and more manageable.

For a quick remedy, apply four-five teaspoons of mayonnaise on the hair and leave on for about an hour before washing off with a mild shampoo.

You can also make a natural hair rinse that should be used after every shampoo. Take a litre of distilled water and add two teaspoons of pure honey to it. After shampooing your hair, take a cup of this and rinse hair with this, leaving it to dry naturally. Not only will it soften hair magically, but will also condition it.

There are also some easy hair packs that can be applied once a week to dry hair to soften your tresses. Take two teaspoons each of amla, shikakai and reetha powder. Mix with two teaspoons of honey, two eggs and two teaspoons of curd. Make a thick and smooth paste and apply from the roots of the hair to the ends and leave on for about 40 minutes. Wash off with a milk-based shampoo.

To cure internal dryness of the body, have plenty of dairy products. A warm cup of milk with a teaspoon of pure almond oil is excellent as it provides you with calcium and Vitamin E. Green vegetables are also just as important and it is imperative to eat plenty of seasonal fruit.

Fruit can also be used to make a hair pack that is extremely nourishing and leaves it silky soft. I had recommended it once to a well-known film star who was known for her fabulous mane. Throughout her film career, though, no one ever came to know the secret of her lustrous locks.

Here’s how to make it: Take two avocados and blend them in a mixer. Add two eggs, the juice of one lemon and two teaspoons of honey. Apply this all over the scalp and hair and cover hair with a cap. Steam your hair with a hot towel over the cap for about 10 minutes. Shampoo after about an hour of keeping this hair pack on. Your hair will feel like never before.

Now that you have some simple easy-to-use remedies, try them and see your hair shine!
