Actor Vinay Jain is best known as Aryan in the hugely popular serial Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. His negative role in the serial has been the greatest turning point in his life and he?s extremely comfortable playing it. But his careergraph started as an assistant director in films like Pathar Ke Phool (1991) starring Raveena Tandon and Salman Khan and Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman (1992) with Shah Rukh Khan and Juhi Chawla in the lead. After that, Vinay moved to theatre and worked in a host of well-known plays like The Legend of Ram directed by Aamir Raza and Salesman Ramlal by Feroze Khan. He also acted in other popular plays like Mahatma versus Gandhi, Games People Play, Saare Jahan Se Achcha and Two To Tango. Besides that, Vinay also has a lot of serials under his belt such as Lipstick and Humare Tumhare on Zee TV. Right now, he?s looking forward to an Indo-British feature film Gandhi ? My Father in which he is eassying the role of Jinnah.
Supporting Vinay all the way is wife Chaitna, who used to work in &M in Mumbai before marriage. Right now, she takes pride in the fact that she?s a housewife and is currently her husband?s unofficial secretary, managing all his work.
VINAY:
Both of us practise Buddhism as a philosophy and frequently attend Buddhist meets to do chants. It was at one of these religious meets that Chaitna and I first met each other three years ago. What struck me the most about Chaitna right from the beginning was her down-to-earth nature. She came across as a very sweet and simple person. We started seeing each other after that and this year in the month of Januray we finally decided to tie the knot.
Chaitna and I didn?t have a fancy courtship in the sense that both of us weren?t exactly the type to swear by candlelight dinners and exchanging gifts. But we loved to spend time together and I often used to take her for long drives. This was one of the most beautiful things to have happened to us. Very soon we realised that we were made for each other.
What I love the most in Chaitna is her high energy levels and her enthusiasm. She?s a very warm and loving person and a minute into a conversation, she will make you feel completely at ease. She?s also extremely sociable, which is why I like to take her along with me to parties and award nights. It?s her sweet smile that brightens up my day. When I come back home after shooting, it?s her warm smile that makes me forget all about the worries and tensions of the day. Chaitna?s also very understanding and never complains about my shooting schedules, erratic though they are. And though she?s not from the industry, she?s slowly learning to adapt to this way of life.
Our marriage also works on account of the many similar interests Chaitna and I share. Both of us are film buffs and love to catch up on all the latest releases. Whenever I get time off, we love going for plays and art shows. Like all men, I am not too fond of shopping which is her major grievance. I always find some excuse for not going out with her on her shopping jaunts. While we?re just newlyweds and all seems to be rosy right now, I hope that in the future too, we?ll continue to share similar interests and enjoy the same rapport we have today.
CHAITNA:
Though there?s a saying that men change after marriage, thankfully that hasn?t been true in Vinay?s case. What attracted me the most about Vinay was the fact that he was a very hardworking and affable person. Since I am not from the industry, after marriage, it took me some time to adjust to this kind of life. In fact, I am still trying to cope with his busy shooting schedules. But I have complete faith in Vinay and feel that one day he?ll be able to make a mark as a fine actor.
Though Vinay is playing a negative role in the serial Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin, in real life he?s a very honest person. He?s extremely fun-loving and never misses an opportunity to pull my leg. It gives me a lot of pride whenever I see people coming up to him to ask for his autographs. He?s very focused and dedicated to his work and I?m glad he?s well on his way to realising his goal of becoming a fine actor.
Work is Vinay?s first priority and he?s a perfectionist when it comes to that. But he?s also a family man and loves to spend time at home when he has no work. Together Vinay and I love to go out for plays or invite close friends over at home. I always make an effort to keep him grounded so that success doesn?t go to his head. One quality that I admire in him is that he?s responsive to all our problems. But what makes me very angry is his disorganised nature. His wardrobe is always messy and it is me who has to keep his things in place. In short, you could say that both of us are more like buddies than husband and wife.
