Rashmi Uday Singh - Food Critic On The Restaurant Beat AS TOLD TO SUSHMITA BISWAS Published 19.03.05, 12:00 AM

Iusually have an action-packed weekend. Since I am a food critic, my job entails covering restaurants and eating hotspots. Currently, I am also writing a food guide about places to hit in Mumbai for which I have to travel a lot.

I also enjoy meeting and mingling with a lot of youngsters in order to learn their food preferences. For this, I usually enlist the help of my son?s friends who take me to such restaurants as Great Wall, Six Degrees, Circus Circus and the Zaha lounge. In fact, I also spend a lot of time chatting with my son, who is studying in Los Angeles, about the newest concepts in food and fine dining over there.

Apart from covering restaurants and lounges, which is part of my research work, I also like to relax and unwind by doing yoga. I get up very early on Saturdays and start my yoga lessons. Since my house faces the sea, I prefer doing my asanas outdoors. It gives me a lot of energy and since I do it in the early morning, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated, ready to take on a hectic weekend. After my yoga lessons, I hit the treadmill or go for a walk. In the evenings, I like to catch up with some of my old friends and basically just chill out and have a great time.

Sundays are more relaxed and tension-free. I workout in the mornings but also make it a point to attend my golf classes, which I?ve been taking for the past 18 years. I also like to go for a swim at The Breach Candy Club ? another great way to get rid of the week?s pressures.
