It’s raining Hilsa at Bhoomi

With monsoon making its presence felt, the Bengali kitchen is all set to welcome the season’s catch — the hilsa. Bhoomi at Vedic Village Spa Resort in Rajarhat is cooking up a feast that celebrates the ilish.

Purono Barir Shorshe Kancha Lonka Ilish: This traditional mustard-marinated hilsa spiced with green chillies is a throwback to the Thakurbari food. Rs 950
Risotto Rice Ilish Khichuri : A fusion dish made of risotto rice flavoured with hilsa oil and topped with a piece of fried hilsa. Go for this if you like Italian and Bengali cuisines and want the best of both. Rs 1,150
Ilish Crab Meat Croquette: One of the experimental dishes, the delicious boneless hilsa croquette or breadcrumbed fried roll is stuffed with crab meat and served with kasundi (mustard sauce). Rs 550

With cooking styles ranging from the traditional recipes of Thakur Bari to the modern fusion and experimental ones, Bhoomi has lined up a series of fishy delights.

On the menu: Both traditional and modern dishes like Smoked Hilsa Sorba, Pan Seared Smoked Hilsa Steak, Thakumar Bhapa Ilish, Purono Barir Shorshe Kancha Lonka Ilish, Roasted Pepper Lotus Stem Hilsa Curry and Halud Patar Hilsa Paturi. For a wholesome meal, try the Risotto Rice Hilsa Khichuri or the Ilish Biryani.
