Double birthday party today. The first of our two birthday boys is the man who featured in India’s most famous photograph from the world of sport. Soon after he held up the Prudential Cup. Wisden named Kapil Dev Indian Cricketer of the Century in 2002. Our second birthday boy has won two Academy Awards, a couple of Grammy Awards, a BAFTA Award, a Golden Globe, four National Film Awards and 15 Filmfare Awards among the hundreds of other awards he has received through his illustrious career as India’s best known music composer. He is the inimitable genius who gave us Maa Tujhe Salaam, voted the second most popular song worldwide by BBC in 2002. He is the Mozart of Madras — A.R. Rahman. A very Happy Birthday to both these Indian icons.
