Temperatures might be dropping across the city but things at RCGC are only beginning to heat up as the third edition of Royal Premier Golf League, in association with The Telegraph, gets under way in the first week of January. In the fray are 27 teams — up from 20 last season — who were all in attendance at the December 16 draw, where they were divided into three groups named after current top guns — Dustin Johnson, Jordan Spieth and Rory McIlroy. t2 caught all the action on and off the stage.
What: Royal Premier Golf League 2018, in association with The Telegraph
Where: Royal Calcutta Golf Club
When: January 5 to March 25
Who: 513 players — 27 teams of 19 members each
How: The teams are divided into three groups: McIlroy, Johnson and Spieth. Each group has nine teams, resulting in 36 matches per group. The group stage will give way to the knockout stage in the second week of March.
Why: The Main Plate is the holy grail, with the Challenger Plate also up for grabs. Also, it’s loads of fun!
