The iD International Emerging Designer Awards was held earlier this month in Dunedin in New Zealand. Shreya Jain, a student of the Mumbai branch of the National Institute of Fashion Technology, bagged the people's choice award. It was quite a feat as the fashion event had an impressive 200 entries from around the world, with 43 finalists representing 19 countries participating in the fashion show.
Shreya (seen in pic with a model dressed in her clothes) won the coveted Otago Polytechnic People's Choice Award for the impeccable fashion sense and dynamic styling of her spring/ summer women's wear collection named Tropical Confectionary. "Design to me is very personal and is a way of expressing my feelings," says Shreya, who was thrilled to be able to showcase her designs at that level.
Here's wishing this is the first of many awards for the young designer.
