Tomatoes: Tomatoes are good for pigmentation problems or sun-sensitivity. They contain lycopene, from which they get the red colour and which helps to break down free radicals.

Turmeric: Turmeric is rich in antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties. Use turmeric in food as much as possible, or have it boiled in milk. These days turmeric smoothies are a hit in cool cafes.

Fish: Fish is good for skin. We always hear of salmon, mackerel and tuna being rich in Omega 3, but our good old rohu comes with its share of this essential fatty acid.

Eggs: If your doctor allows you, go for eggs. High on amino acids, Vitamin D and iron, they are good for skin.

Nuts: Go nuts. They contain minerals, protein, vitamin E and essential fatty acids. They are good for some skin conditions like psoriasis. Keep a pack of nuts in your bag for a quick snack.

Whole Grains: Whole grains contain vitamins and minerals. Avoid refined flour foods. Eat atta. Even bake your cake with atta. It tastes fantastic!

Chocolate: Good chocolate is good. Best, have dark chocolate.

It comes with everything: antioxidants, all sorts of minerals, essential fatty acids. But it also comes with calories, so nibble at it.

Chia seeds: They contain Omega-3, Vitamin E and zinc. They are good for clearing the guts and prevention of acne.

Sunflower seeds: They contain Vitamin E.

Orange juice: Juices are a no-no say some, as they come with calories and no fibre, but orange juice is still recommended by many for its high content of Vitamin C, which helps create collagen, the body’s main structural protein.

Orange juice also keeps the body hydrated.
