Shoppers and visitors at City Centre Salt Lake had a cool weekend from May 18 to 20 as 18 stalls served up chilled sips and frozen scoops at the Summer Coolers festival, in association with t2. From mango-based drinks to minty mojitos, liquid nitrogen ice cream to chuskis and kulfis — the #beattheheat menu was a hit with people of all ages. Glimpses...
Ankit Sarkar, a Class VII student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, came with his parents to beat the heat at the Summer Cooler festival and their choice of sip was Aam Pora Sharbat from The Breakfast. “I wanted to try the drink because the name is very interesting and it tastes quite nice,” said the 12-year-old.
Shweta Kalyankar, an accessory design student of NIFT, came with her friend Shwetank Parashar and we found them sipping on Oreo Shake from Sip & Sandwich. “Shwetank is from Delhi and I wanted to give him a taste of Calcutta food. We have a lot to explore at this festival,” said Shweta.
Sulagna Ray read about the festival in t2 and decided to check it out. “This is a very good initiative, as these days canned and artificial drinks are consumed more than natural ones,” said the Salt Lake resident, sipping on Hydrator Straw from The Yellow Straw.
t2 spotted Avipsa Ghosh Hajra, a kindergarten student of Adamas International School, posing for a selfie with her mother Satabdi, a glass of Mango Punch from Radhika Flair in hand. “We came to the mall for shopping and discovered the festival. Since it’s very hot today, we settled for a mango drink,” said Satabdi.
Arundhati Sen, an English honours student at Presidency University, enjoyed a Kala Khatta Chuski from Shibuji. “This is a very apt event for the summer; I haven’t seen anything like this before,” said Arundhati.
We loved this father-daughter duo bonding over a cool sip. Indrakshi Majumdar, a Class XI student of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, shared a Green Apple Martini from Radhika Flair, with father Abhik, before settling for an Aam Pora Sharbat from The Breakfast. “The festival is really nice. We loved the range of sips and chillers across the stalls. I even packed some Mango Patishapta from Pithe Bilashi for home,” said Abhik.
