Salt Lake has a new hangout, dedicated to the city and its food. It’s a restaurant and lounge named K-Local that opened doors earlier this month at City Centre Salt Lake.

The 94-seater eatery is spread across 2,730sq ft and the interiors  have been done up using motifs that define the city.
From the staircase that’s filled with graffiti depicting different Calcutta paraphernalia to yellow taxis, old Calcutta-style brick walls and photographs of city landmarks — the space echoes everything Calcutta.

t2 checked out the chill zone and here’s why you should head for it.

Just before you enter, this yellow taxi installation will give you a feel of the look inside. “We wanted to have elements of Calcutta or Kolkata as it is now known. That’s why we chose to name the place K-Local,” said Supratim Roy, who co-owns the restaurant and lounge with Rajesh Jaiswal, Giridhari Jaiswal and Rajesh Kothari.
Kalighat Ki Lassi: This sweet and spicy lassi served in a steel container is a refreshing drift from the regular, thanks to the crushed cumin and coriander seeds. Rs 165-plus
Thyme Crusted Chicken Kebab: Ditch the old tikka for these melt-in-the-mouth kebabs marinated in mayonnaise and thyme, served with mustard dip and papad. Rs 329-plus
Pizza Meat on Top: A meat overload comes in the form of a thin-crust pizza that has a base of chicken and mutton keema, and toppings that include chicken sausages and pieces of mutton kebab. Rs 369-plus
Kolkata Chicken Biryani Platter: If you’re in the mood for something filling, go for this handi. Raita, papad and salad are served with this Calcutta-style biryani that packs tender chicken pieces and our forever fave aloo. Rs 299-plus
Crema Catalina: This Gondhoraj lime-infused pudding is so smooth that it melts in the mouth. Rs 149-plus
