Calcutta, Sept. 9: Tech Mahindra today launched its Saral Rozgar job cards in Bengal to enable workers in the unorganised sector to connect with prospective employers over a digital platform. The move can create around 15,000 job openings in the state by the end of the year.
The card is offered in collaboration with telecom operators who provide a code that job seekers can call to register themselves.
Traditional job portals largely cater to qualified graduates in niche segments. Tech Mahindra hopes to challenge the digital divide and address the needs of the unorganised skill force.
“We are addressing the issue of connectivity and access to information. It is a huge challenge for the blue-collared or the semi-skilled workers to find the right job. Most of the time they get caught between the brokers or the agencies. Saral Rozgar is a digital mechanism to create a marketplace for jobs,” said Jagdish Mitra, head (mobility business), Tech Mahindra.
