Covid-19 lockdown: Big Bazaar is online

The retail chain is also taking orders via phone calls and whatsapp for home delivery

Brick and mortar hypermarket chain Big Bazaar has gone online and will provide home delivery services.

The retail chain, part of Kishore Biyani-led Future Group, said it has launched mobile site shop, bigbazaar.com, where customers can make online purchase of food, grocery and certain non-essential items after putting in their pincode and selecting the nearest store. The retail chain will deliver the order at the customer’s doorstep maintaining safe and contactless delivery.

The retail chain is also taking orders via phone calls and whatsapp for home delivery. A store pick-up option is also available wherein the customer can pay online and visit the store to pick up the order. In Calcutta, the service is already functional with stores offering time slots depending on their capacity, said Manish Agarwal, who heads the eastern region business.

Meanwhile, Keventer Agro on Thursday said it has partnered online food delivery platforms — Swiggy and Zomato — for home delivery of milk, banana and frozen food.

“As the Bengal government has announced that non-essential items can be sold online and for home delivery, we have listed many products on the platform. The customer can make their choice and we will home deliver. Lot of summer essentials for fashion, products of home and kitchen and electronics are also listed on the online platform,” he said.

For large housing complexes and societies, the retail chain has said that it would park a truck filled with groceries to meet the pantry requirements of the residents.

Food and beverage firm Keventer Agro on Thursday said it has partnered online food delivery platforms - Swiggy and Zomato - for home delivery of milk, banana and frozen food.

Moreover, Keventer Agro, being the largest franchisee of Parle Agro in India, will also offer beverages such as Frooti and Appy Fizz on the platform. The company will cater to the demand through five distribution depots in Calcutta.

“We understand the need of the hour is to serve the customers with their daily nutritional requirements at their doorsteps,” said Mayank Jalan, CMD of Keventer Agro.
