Shome role ONGC approval UBI Myanmar

Shome role

New Delhi, Dec. 6: The government today appointed tax expert Parthasarathy Shome as the adviser to finance minister P. Chidambaram with the rank of the minister of state. “Parthasarathy Shome has been appointed as the adviser to the finance minister, in the rank of minister of state, co-terminus with the period of office of the finance minister,” said an official release. Shome was earlier the chairman of the committee on General Anti-Avoidance Rules.

ONGC approval

New Delhi, Dec. 6: State-owned ONGC has won project operator Eni’s approval for its $5-billion acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ stake in Kazakhstan’s giant Kashagan oilfield. ONGC Videsh Ltd, the overseas arm of ONGC, trumped a bid by China National Petroleum Corp to bag the stake.

Calcutta, Dec. 6: The United Bank of India’s (UBI) representative office in Yangon, Myanmar was declared open on December 5.
