Youth held with hashish

Patna, June 29: A 28-year-old youth, Mukesh Saha, was detained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) from Sitamarhi with hashish valued at Rs 3 crore in the international market.

A country-made pistol and five live cartridges were also seized from him.

SSB’s 20th Battalion deputy commandant Neeraj Chand said Saha was nabbed when he was going to catch a bus for Patna from Bhitthamore in Sitamarhi around 10pm on Friday. He added: “Saha was carrying hashish in 25 packets wrapped in clothes. A resident of Parihar police station area in Sitamarhi, Saha had brought the consignment from Nepal to be delivered to a dealer in Mumbai.”

During interrogation, Saha revealed he used to deliver consignments to dealers in Goa, Delhi, Punjab and Maharashtra. He said he has close links with some drug peddlers in Nepal as well.
