Patna: A warrant of arrest has been issued against IAS officer Pankaj Dixit in connection with a case lodged under sections of the SC/ST (Prevention) Atrocities Act.

A court, headed by additional district and sessions judge Satyendra Pandey, issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest against Dixit when he was posted as the district magistrate of Kishanganj. Kishanganj statistical officer Surendra Kumar Suman filed the complaint against Dixit, a 2011-batch IAS officer.

Dixit, who is at present posted as the Rohtas district magistrate, has been accused of hurling abuses, humiliating him in his office and making casteist remarks last year. Initially, Suman went to the SC/ST police station in the district to lodge a complaint against the district magistrate but the police refused to entertain his complaint.

Later, he lodged a complaint (no. 57/17) in the court, which took cognisance of the matter and issued a non-bailable warrant against then district magistrate Dixit. Dixit was transferred to Rohtas in April when the state government effected a major shuffle in the state's bureaucracy.

Suman alleged that he was deeply hurt by the way then district magistrate Dixit behaved with him in his office. "He had called me to his chamber to discuss on a particular file. When I reached there and entered his chamber, he (Dixit) got angry and used abusive language and made casteist remarks," he told this newspaper.

Dixit was unavailable for comment. An officer deputed at his official residence said he was busy in some official work. "Talk to him later. He is unable to take the call right now," said the officer.

Later, umpteen efforts were made to contact Dixit but in vain.

Earlier, a summon was issued to the young IAS officer. Earlier, this year, a court in Aurangabad had ordered the auction of an official vehicle of the Aurangabad district magistrate for the latter's failure to pay compensation to a farmer's family.
