Six patients with symptoms of dengue are undergoing treatment at the Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital but the health hub is yet to collect their blood samples for confirming the disease.

Since July, the government hospital, around 175km northeast of Patna, has conducted tests on 22 persons suspected to suffer from dengue. Only five, including a 14-month-old, have been tested positive by the microbiology department.

Amit Kumar, Mohammad Farukh, Birju Jha, Akhlesh Chaupal, Bhikhan Paswan and Bikau Paswan are under treatment at the hospital now.

Superintendent Suraj Nayak said: “Six patients suffering from symptoms of dengue are admitted in the special dengue ward. It has a capacity to treat 10 patients at a time. We have all the medicines required to treat dengue patients. Blood platelets are also available at the hospital’s blood bank.”

Doctors said several people were worried of being down with dengue, but not many had tested positive. Blood samples have been collected from at least four patients and the ELISA test to confirm dengue would be conducted soon.
