Patna, March 23: The Patna University administration is fully geared up for the final year graduation and postgraduation examinations scheduled to begin from March 25.

According to the university’s academic calendar, the final year graduation examination for BA, BSc, BCom and MA, MSc and MCom will start on March 25. The university administration is ready to hold the final year examinations. Strict action will be taken against students found adopting unfair means, said a source.

The university’s examination controller, D.N. Sharma, told The Telegraph: “The administration is ready for final year examination. Mobiles, calculators and other electronics gadgets will not be allowed inside the examination halls.”

He said: “Adequate security personnel will be deployed at all examination centres. Around 14,000 students — 10,000 from graduation and 4,000 from postgraduation — will appear for the examination.”

Sharma said: “We have requested all senior teachers to co-operate in the examination and many of them have been made invigilators.” The varsity administration has set up seven centres, including Patna College, Patna Science College, BN College, Patna Women’s College, Magadh Mahila College, Vanijya Mahavidhyalaya and Darbhanga House, where examination will be held. All examination centres will have a magistrate apart from security personnel who will supervise the examination. Videography of examination centres will be done.”

Sudipto Adhikari, the acting vice-chancellor of Patna University, said: “The checking of question papers by seniors teachers is almost complete and we sent the question papers to print before Holi.”

The examinations would be conducted in two sessions from 10am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm. Apart from magistrates and security personnel, there would also be flying squads comprising senior teachers supervising the examinations. The final year examination of graduation will be followed by second and first year examinations starting from April 11 and May 9 respectively.

Apart from the final year examination of graduation, the final year examination of vocational courses will also start on March 25.

In recent years, the university had become punctual in holding final year examinations as the examinations start in March and by July, they have to publish the results to enable students seek admission in other universities without facing much trouble owing to delay in declaration of results.
