The rural works department on Sunday announced the transfer of 355 engineers.

The employees will have to join their new posting within 72 hours or face disciplinary action.

The order also includes making a new system for the appraisal of field engineers every four months. Those who fail to perform would be transferred or suspended.

While speaking to journalists on Sunday, rural works minister Bhim Singh said: “All 355 engineers have to join their new posting within 72 hours or strict action will be taken against them.”

He also said: “Our department secretary B. Rajender will review the joining. If any engineer is found absent he/she would be suspended. The department will host a daylong workshop at Rabindra Bhavan on July 8 in which all the engineers have to bring the photocopy of their joining letter for which a separate counter will be opened.”

The minister also announced that a new system for the appraisal of engineers has been introduced.

“Every four months, there would be an inspection and review of the work in which load and efficiency would be checked. If any engineer is found neglecting his/her work, the engineer would be transferred immediately.”
