Artists work on a logo at Gandhi Maidan, the venue of the state’s centenary celebrations christened Bihar Divas, in Patna on Wednesday. The logo depicts 100 years of the state against the backdrop of a peepal leaf. The leaf symbolises Lord Buddha. The logo will be installed on the main stage. Apart from the logo, the main stage will have statues depicting yakshnis (mythical beings) Lord Buddha and the Ashok Stambh. Chief minister Nitish Kumar’s much-acclaimed scheme, the Mukhyamantri Balika Cycle Yojana, will also be installed on the stage with girls shown riding cycles. These structures have been made from Plaster of Paris. Artwork depicting Gangetic dolphins, Shaheed Smarak near the Assembly gate, Mahatma Gandhi’s Champaran Yatra, Takht Shri Harmandir Sahib and women observing Chhath rituals would also be installed around Gandhi Maidan. The theme of the three-day-long Bihar Divas celebrations is Virasat se Vikas ki Aur (from heritage to development). Around 200 carpenters and artisans are working to complete the installations before March 22. Text by Roshan Kumar, picture by Nagendra Kumar Singh |
