SUV kills three
• Patna: A speeding SUV crushed three persons to death and left another seriously injured near Parasbigha village on the Ekangarsarai-Islampur road in Nalanda district on Friday.
Police said the SUV rammed into four persons who had fallen on the road when their motorbikes collided. Residents blocked the Ekangarsarai-Islampur road to protest the deaths. The injured man, Mahendra Mistri, has been admitted to Biharsharif sadar hospital where his condition is said to be critical.

• Madhubani: The superintendent of police has suspended Babubarhi police station house officer Pankaj Anand for dereliction of duty over the SHO's inept handling of the situation arising out of clash between residents and administrative officials over shifting of a Shiv idol.

• Patna: Around 60 children fell ill after consuming prasad at Lalbagh village under Deepnagar police station in Nalanda district on Friday. The children have been admitted to Biharsharif sadar hospital and were said to be out of danger. The children complained of pain in stomach and many of them started vomiting after consuming the prasad.

• Patna: Rajesh Kumar on Friday assumed charge as the new chief public relations officer (CPRO) of East Central Railway. He was earlier in New Delhi as director (mechanical engineering/freight). Arvind Kumar Rajak, CPRO before Rajesh, has now been elevated as chief commercial manager (passenger services) in ECR headquarters, Hajipur.

• Aurangabad: A local court on Friday acquitted 14 Maoists in connection with an attack on the base camp of a private road construction company at Goh in Aurangabad district in July 2013 for lack of evidence.

• Patna: Regional rural bank staff in Bihar were on strike on Friday on a call by the All India Regional Rural Bank Employees Association. They are demanding pay parity with nationalised bank staff and regularisation of daily wage workers.

• Patna: Rural development minister Shravan Kumar on Friday felicitated 90 officials for their good work. The officials were associated with the implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Scheme and Indira Awas Yojana schemes.

• Patna: The Bihar unit of Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha will organise several events, including blood donation camps, to mark Deendayal Upadhyaya's centenary birth anniversary.

• Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Sanjeev Singh on Friday said introduction of GST in the country would bring many problems for common people. He said the current format of GST was not practical and was against the interest of traders. But the BJP's Bihar unit president Nityanand Rai thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union finance minister Arun Jaitley for its implementation.
